SolForge App Reviews

Good but....

The gameplay is good. The free to play is good. Artwork good. Its generally a very good and entertaining game. However.... When playing against other players the matchmaking doesnt really make sense. Also there seems to be some cards that are basically unstoppable unless you have the one card that can negate it. I mean you could just buy booster after booster until you might get those cards but until you do, it will be loss after loss after loss. Which is extremely frustrating. The balancing of the cards needs to be fixed and matchmaking needs to be improved. Just starting and being put up against players that have obviously been playing for a good while with MUCH better cards is frustrating also.

Great game, terrible app

This is hands down the worst game app Ive ever used. The game design itself is spectacular, but whoever built this app should be ashamed of the state this was released in. Visual bugs galore, terrible QoL, overlapping UI triggers that cause errors, completely asinine input requirements that differ from page to page, the store doesnt work properly. Buyer beware - dont put money into this until all this is fixed or they kill the app. Shameful dev work, 0 testing, and even more disappointing because the actual game itself is fun. Step it up Stoneblade.

Good game, crap programming

Dont be fooled, the game mechanics are fundamentally flawed. Too many games lost in rank 3 by one player drawing multiple rank 3 cards and the other staring at rank 1 and 2 cards helplessly. Fun for a little while, but dont waste money on in app purchases.

Meh...

Great concept and design of cards. Game is EXTREMELY difficult whether you face actual players or even the game itself. Everything cost so much to even have a little enjoyment In the game. Almost a dollar for 6 cards?! The game has many glitches and was built poorly but could have potential down the road. Major letdown Solforge.

Awesome game

Better card game than hearthstone. App needs work but gameplay is very in depth. This is a very good card game by a reputable game company, has very much potential to be awesome in the future. If you like CCGs highly recommend you try this game. Simple to learn but very very deep in strategy.

I miss Solforge :(

Six months ago, i had this game open constantly. The app had its flaws, but it was easy to use and the game became more compelling with each new set release. But ever since the 7.0 "complete redesign", Ive been unable to play on my iPad 2 (yes, its old, but the old version ran fine, and according to the app description, the new one is still compatible with iPad and iPhone). Constant crashes, slow and gratuituous animation, cards that are difficult to read. Even if I could play, the redesign is a UX nightmare--too many clicks to accomplish simple tasks (like opening a new pack of cards or launching a game in progress); card text that is both harder to read and harder to find than the old version; card art that no longer fits in the designed card layout. Some features from the previous game have been completely lost--pass and play has disappeared (much to my daughters disappointment) and so have untimed games with random opponents (now there are only timed games--with a full-time job and family of six, thats a non-starter for me). It feels like nothing so much as a port from the Windows PC environment--a DOS port at that. Only Apples Podcast app has filled me with more righteous anger than Solforge 7.0.

Ambitions Unclear

so I did not come from magic no any other card game except Hearthstone, and now, Skyrim: Legends. The basic issue w this game is I HEARD it is pay to win making you grind out numbness matches to obtain better cards. Secondly, and important as hell, look at the launch date which is many years ago. It launched, people spent, devs basically did nothing but collected the $ and didnt stimulate or grow the community. I dont know this to be true but it was a common thread as this game is on Steam for PC. it does look gorgeous though!

Drafting

This game is outstanding. It is both random and skill testing, and has more strategy than Magic the Gathering. All the spells are free to cast, but the more you play them the more they level up and get better after each reshuffling. The draft is incredible once you understand the game. I dont even collect cards, I just draft infinitely because...well, you can see my draft stats on solforges homepage.

Dont know

To play you need to use a valid email to set up an account. I already get enough junk mail, so I never got past the home screen. Might be good, Ill never know.

Give it time, there are strategies to this game.

Draft. What other digital game offers this?

Love the game, hate the app

Used to play this everyday with the older version (which also had its flaws) but it is unplayable now in my iPad 2. Constant crashes and cannot even make a draft deck because of them. I hope they fix this. I mean, how hard could it be. Just hire a good programmer.

Its broken

Used to play all the time, after updating I cant get past the load screen. Please fix!

Great game

Worth a shot if you want an easy fun game to supplement hearthstone

+1 Year Break...

I started playing this game over 3 years ago, never missed a day. They "updated" it and decided everything needs an animation that takes forever to resolve. The mechanics are amazing, but considering how long it takes to play one card, you are better off playing a tcg at your local game store against a halitosis mouth breather with boundary issues. And no, there isnt an acceleration option in the menu. Over a year and they still havent fixed the animation is boring after your 10th game. If I ever remember SolForge again, I might play again and see if they fixed it (and update my review) but I feel burned after spending cash supporting a game I loved and to see it take this turn. Sorry devs. I wanted to share this with my friends, but I cant, not like this.

Normal mode?

Fine game as long a you do not buy decks... Cause when you do so the AI goes enters some kind of "omnipotent god mode"having always the exact cards it needs to beat you over and over again... To pay a deck to play do not bother me, as long as i keep having fun playing. But here it rather feels like ive blindly hired a vicious SM dominatrix that spanks me harder each and evry time... To bad im not into that kind of stuff.^^

Ill rerate it when it works

Seems cool though... But cant tell roght now. Too lany features just dont seem to work.

Need improvements

The game is nive. I play MTG and had no problem to learn the rules of Solforge. But the app itself ruins the experience. The lag, app restarting everytime you change the screen and the deck builiding screen (why cant I remove cards from the deck???) need improvements. The game itself shouldnt have the 2 faction per deck limit. Multi-colored decks works alright on MTG and sure it would work nice on Solforge. I just love the rewards... Today I just got a secret chest with some really good cards, and ive won it just by playing the game!!! Keep up the good work, i hope this game got on real cardboard. It would drain my whole money.

unbelievably awesome

this is just a demo showing only a small part of the eventual game but it is already highly addictive and fun!

Fresh and plays great

To really get the best from the game you have to invest in the 4 card decks. The demo does not really do the game justice. Ok, the price is going to cost the same as a cinema ticket, but your going to get more then 2 hours of entertainment for sure! Im happy with my purchase. Really one of the best card battlers out there, and it is just going to get better.

buggy like hell

generally a nice game .. but its realy the most buggy App ive seen in the last four years on my various ipads. it gets stuck like every five minutes when you have to close and restart. Also .. when opening boosters it frequently just closes down by itself and you loose the info what cards were in the booster.
